Prime Minister Calls On Public Procurement Officials To Show Transparency, Equity

The Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Messoud, held a meeting, on Tuesday, with public procurement officials to whom he stressed that they constitute a key component in the system of public affairs transparency.

They must, he said, incorporate the rules of justice and equity, embody the vision and directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani for the building of a State of law based on the principles of good governance.

In this context, the Prime Minister urged them to be totally transparent in the exercise of their responsibilities in terms of conclusion and implementation of public contracts, inviting them to accelerate the pace of procedures and to ensure equal access and treatment of all tenderers. He indicated that their action has direct repercussions on the business climate and induces positive repercussions in the economic and social fields.

Indeed, he noted, public procurement, if properly managed, represents a strong lever of vocational training, a major motivation for the creation of institutions, and a factor in the promotion of the private sector.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors, Mr. Kane Ousmane Mamoudou, the Director of Cabinet of the Prime Minister, Ms. Aïcha Vall Verges, and the advisor to the Prime Minister in charge of productive economy, Mr. Mohamed Lemine Ould Hamady.
