Food Security Commission launches a Package of Development Programs as Part of the Madain Heritage Festival in Ouadane

The Food Security Commissioner, Mrs. Fatima mint Khatri, along with the Governor of Adrar State, Mr. Abdullah Ould Mohamed Mahmoud, oversaw today, Wednesday, in the city of Ouadane, the launch of a series of social interventions implemented by the Food Security Commission, within the framework of the developmental component of the 14th edition of the Cities of Heritage Festival organized in the city.
These interventions include free food distributions for 500 families living in the city, through which more than 57 tons of basic foodstuffs, including rice, wheat, sugar, and cooking oil, will be distributed. They also include funding for ten income-generating activities with a financial envelope of up to five million old Ouguiyas, and the provision of 4,000 meters of fencing with its accessories to protect the city’s oases.
The Commissioner for Food Security affirmed, in a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency, that this developmental component falls within the framework of implementing the high directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, aimed at promoting local development in the city of Ouadane.
She added that the government has consistently kept pace with the Moding Heritage Festival through various developmental programs, including free food distributions, supporting income-generating activities by funding ten projects with 500,000 old ouguiyas per project, providing fencing to protect the oases, as well as supporting the Ouadane Municipality in city cleaning before and after the festival, and providing accommodation for visitors to the cultural event
