Here is the full text of this press release:
“The Islamic Republic of Mauritania follows with indignation the unworthy inciting actions carried out for some time against Islam under the false pretext of freedom of expression as well as the provocation of the feelings of Muslims by attacking our Prophet Mohamed ( Peace Be Upon Him). Also Mauritania, while denouncing this behavior which has nothing to do with freedom of expression, rejects any action or attitude likely to incite racism and hatred whatever its origin, denounces, in the same way, any act of terror committed in the name of religion against innocent people and emphasizes that attacking the values of brotherhood, tolerance and respect for the human race announced by the Prophets, will only make the reality of Humanity more complex and worsen its situation.
Mauritania also reaffirms, in this context, its full adherence to the declaration of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on this issue, as it reflects the truth and expresses the position of the entire Islamic Ummah”.
