The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, met, on Friday in N’Djamena, with representatives of the Mauritanian community in Chad.
During the meeting, the minister insisted on the great attention paid by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to the concerns of Mauritanians, both inside and outside the country.
He praised the responsibility shown by our community, its desire to preserve the image of Mauritania as a source of knowledge, an example of moral maturity and moderation, stressing the need to safeguard these values to represent Mauritania honorably abroad.
For their part, the representatives of the community appreciated this new orientation of the public authorities and explained the problems they face in the host country, in particular their access to the services of the National Agency for the Population Registry and Secure Documents.
Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed pledged to study the problems raised with the parties concerned with a view to finding solutions as soon as possible.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, arrived Thursday in the Chadian capital from the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to participate in preparatory meetings for the G-5 Sahel summit, whose rotating presidency is currently held by Mauritania.
These meetings will be held at the level of foreign ministers of the G-5 Sahel countries on 13 February, two days before the opening of the summit.
