Foreign Affairs Minister Leaves for Spain

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians abroad, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Marzuk, left Nouakchott on Tuesday evening for the Spanish kingdom to attend the NATO summit in Madrid from June 28 to 30.

The summit, which will involve 40 heads of state and government from various NATO countries and invitees, will address several crucial topics, including the growing risk of terrorism, particularly in North Africa and the Sahel.

The summit coincides with the 40th anniversary of Spain’s accession to NATO, which, as part of its main agenda, seeks to increase joint defense spending and ways to strengthen the alliance.
