Ten Thousand Rural Mauritanians will Benefit from Clean Energy

The Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy, Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh, signed on Tuesday evening a cooperation agreement with the representative of the United Nations Development Programme, Mr. Anthony Enkourrani.
The agreement aims to implement the investment plan and finance a pilot project within the large rural electrification programme.

On the occasion, the minister noted that the project would enable approximately 10,000 residents living in rural areas of the Eastern Basin, Western Basin and Gang states to access clean energy at reasonable cost and experience an innovative off-grid energy model to guide and identify the choice of a viable energy policy and educate people and energy actors about a new approach to energy production.
