Minister of Public Service Receives UN Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Slavery

On 4 May in Nouakchott, Mr. Mohamed Ould Abdallahi Ould Ethmane, the Minister of Public Service and Labor, held a working session with Mr. Tomoya Obokata, the UN Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Slavery.

Mr. Obokata explained to the Minister the objectives of his visit to Mauritania.

The Minister gave all the information on the measures taken to fight against the phenomenon. He stressed that the fight against slavery in Mauritania is irreversible. He added that His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, pays particular attention to eliminating the effects of slavery by carrying out radical reforms in this regard.
