The Attorney General’s office declares that it has received the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee’s report and that it will initiate the search procedures rigorously and seriously in accordance with the law

Nouakchott, 05 August 2020-The Attorney General’s office said that its pole in charge of the fight against mismanagement in western Nouakchott received, on 5 August, the parliamentary inquiry file, transmitted by the National Assembly.
The Attorney General’s office explained, in a statement sent to the Mauritanian news agency [AMI], that the pole will begin preliminary research procedures and that it will adopt the rigor and seriousness required, in accordance with the laws in force.
Here is the full text of the statement :
“The pole of the Attorney General’s office in charge of the fight against mismanagement in the wilaya (region) of western Nouakchott received, on 5 August 2020, the parliamentary inquiry file, transmitted by the National Assembly.
While the pole of fight against mismanagement begins preliminary research with the rigor and seriousness required, in accordance with the laws in force, the Attorney General’s office announces to the national opinion the following:
-The research and investigation procedures will be carried out in a neutral and impartial manner, and in accordance with the procedural rules decided judicially, while taking the necessary time required for this type of investigation.
– Anyone found guilty of criminal acts after investigation will be prosecuted and brought before the competent court to receive the appropriate sanction, within the framework of a fair trial guaranteeing respect for the rights of the defense.
– The judicial authority alone is competent to determine the legal description of the facts and the resulting legal implications.
