Mauritania chairs the 13th meeting of the heads of the armed forces of the member countries of the “5 + 5 Defence” Initiative.

The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Mohamed Bamba Meguet, chaired, on Wednesday, by videoconference the proceedings of the 13th meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of the member countries of the “5 + 5 Defence” initiative.The member countries comprise besides Mauritania, Algeria, Spain, France, Italy, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Portugal and Tunisia.
The objective of the meeting is to strengthen security in the Western Mediterranean, through initiatives encompassing maritime and air security, the participation of the member countries of the initiative in crisis management, research and training in the field relating to his competences.
