On 29 January, the Staff of the National Guard received a center intended for the training of the Meharists of the Nomadic Group (the Cameleers) in Achemime. The Center aims at building the capacities of this group to ensure security in the area.
The Center includes accommodation for its commanding officer, administrative offices, training, and teaching rooms, student residence and annexes, and stores for its equipment.
The Center, constructed within the framework of the ‘Security and Development’ project financed by the European Union through the European Development Fund, includes the drilling of 10 artesian wells. It will enable the capacity building of the Nomadic Group as part of a security approach that favors the empowerment of rural populations by providing inhabitants with basic services and immunizing them against the ideology of extremism which finds fertile ground in vulnerability.
