Foreign Minister Receives UNICEF Regional Manager

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed, received Monday the Regional Manager of United Nations Children’ Fund (UNICEF) in western and central Africa, Mme Marie-Pierre Poirier, accompanied by His Excellency Marc Lucet, Representative of UNICEF in our country.

The meeting was an occasion for both parties to discuss common interest issues, especially the crucial role played by this UN body in Mauritania.

It was also an opportunity to shed light on the particular interest that UNICEF attaches to the program of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, which fights against poverty, marginalization, and endeavors to develop and improve the quality of education.

The UN partners reiterated their will to support the vision of the President of the Republic.

The meeting took place in the presence of the General Manager of Multilateral Cooperation, Ambassador Mr. Mohamed Lemine Moulaye Ely, the Manager of the UN Department, Mr. Mostapha Injih, and the head of the Department of International Non-Governmental Organizations.
