Congolese Embassy Celebrates the 66th Anniversary of its Country’s Independence

Yesterday evening, Tuesday, the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Nouakchott organised a reception to mark the 66th anniversary of the country’s independence.

The government was represented at the reception by the Minister for Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament, and Government Spokesperson, Mr El Hussein Ould Medou, and the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs, Ms Hindou Ainina

In a speech delivered on the occasion, the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Mauritania, H.E. Mr. Mr. Nyandu Kibambi Eric, emphasised that this year’s celebration holds special significance, as it marks his country’s full return to the diplomatic scene in Mauritania more than two decades after the accreditation of the last Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Nouakchott.

He added that the resumption of these celebrations marks a new chapter in relations between Kinshasa and Nouakchott, based on trust, African solidarity and a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation.

H.E. the Ambassador highlighted the progress being made in Mauritanian-Congolese relations, against the backdrop of the bonds of friendship and mutual respect by H.E. the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mr Félix Tshisekedi, and he emphasised the two countries’ commitment to strengthening cooperation in the political, economic and cultural spheres, in a manner that serves the interests of both peoples and supports peace, stability and sustainable development.
