Government Spokesperson: The President’s visit to France marked a turning point in the development of bilateral relations
Mr. El-Hussein Ould Medou, Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament, and Government Spokesperson, stated that the state visit to France by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, is a historic visit, given that it represents the highest level of protocol for official visits between heads of state, particularly when involving the French Republic.
His explained, during his comments on the results of the Cabinet meeting this Wednesday evening, in the press room at the headquarters of the Mauritanian News Agency, in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Minister of Real Estate, State Property, and Real Estate Reform, that this visit provided an important opportunity during which the French President expressed his deep appreciation for His Excellency the President of the Republic, praising his efforts to develop and diversify bilateral relations and expand areas of cooperation between the two countries.
He added that His Excellency the President of the Republic plays a pivotal role in strengthening and enhancing these friendly relations, noting that the visit featured a series of meetings with senior French officials, in addition to his chairing of the Mauritanian-French Economic Forum in Paris, which culminated in the signing of a number of agreements, particularly in the private sector.
For his part, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Yacoub Ould Moine, explained that the draft decree on the restructuring of the Higher Institute of Digitalization is part of efforts to keep pace with the institute’s academic development and to strengthen its role in training national talent in the fields of technology and digitalization.
He noted that the draft decree includes the establishment of a doctoral program within the institute, a significant step that reflects the rapid development of this institution, which was founded in 2021. It began offering bachelor’s degree programs between 2021 and 2024, before launching master’s degree programs between 2024 and 2026.
For his part, Mr. Mamoudou Mamadou Niang, Minister of Real Estate, State Property, and Real Estate Reform, outlined the key points of the statement regarding rural concessions and land plots granted to real estate developers in Nouakchott, explaining the legal and urban planning aspects as well as the measures taken to regulate this matter.
