Mauritania Strongly Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

The Islamic Republic of Mauritania expresses its strong condemnation of the Houthi attacks targeting civilian neighborhoods and economic facilities in several cities across the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which resulted in injuries to civilians, including women and children.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mauritania affirmed its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for whatever measures the Kingdom deems appropriate to protect its territory and citizens and ensure its security and stability.

The full text of the statement reads as follows:

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad expresses the Islamic Republic of Mauritania’s strong condemnation of the Houthi attacks that targeted civilian and commercial neighborhoods in several cities of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, resulting in injuries to civilians, including women and children.

While expressing its deep concern over these dangerous developments, Mauritania reaffirms its unwavering solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and asserts that any violation of the Kingdom’s security is considered a violation of its own security. It reiterates its full support for whatever measures the Kingdom deems appropriate to protect its territory and citizens and ensure its security and stability, in accordance with international law.

The Islamic Republic of Mauritania also condemns the targeting of commercial vessels and the threat to maritime security and freedom of international navigation in the Red Sea, and calls for an immediate end to these attacks, thereby contributing to the preservation of security and stability in the region and supporting efforts aimed at establishing peace in brotherly Yemen.”
