Mauritania participates in the second session of the Arab-Indian Forum in New Delhi

The second session of the Arab-Indian Forum kicked off, last Saturday, in the Indian capital New Delhi, with the participation of a delegation from our country, headed by the Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, His Excellency Ambassador El Houssein Sidi Abdoullah Dih, representing His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad.

In his speech to the forum, which was attended by the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and the Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, in his capacity as head of the Arab side, and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, that the rapid geopolitical changes necessitate upgrading Arab-Indian relations to the level of an effective strategic partnership capable of contributing, through its political and economic weight, to the development of sustainable solutions to global challenges.

He pointed to the qualitative shift in Mauritanian-Indian relations thanks to the political will of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, which culminated in the opening of the two countries’ embassies. In the same context, he reviewed the promising investment opportunities in Mauritania, considering it a double gateway to the Arab and African worlds, particularly in the fields of clean energy, green hydrogen exports, and the blue economy.

The Mauritanian delegation included His Excellency the Ambassador of Mauritania to the Republic of India, Mr. Ahmedou Ahmedou, the Ambassador Director of Multilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, as well as an advisor to the Mauritanian Embassy in India.
