The Ministers of Foreign Affairs and their Ivorian Counterparts Chair the First Session of the Joint High Commission for Cooperation

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, chaired , Tuesday, in Abidjan, Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, alongside the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Ivorians Abroad, Mr. Léon Kakou Adom, the first session of the Mauritanian-Ivorian Joint High Commission for Cooperation.

The agenda of the session included completing the draft agreements by the legal team, exchanging letters between the minister and his Ivorian counterpart, followed by reviewing, approving, and initialing the general report and the final statement by the ministers.

In his opening speech, the Minister, on behalf of the Mauritanian delegation accompanying him, expressed sincere thanks and deep gratitude to the Ivorian authorities for the warm reception and generous hospitality extended to him and the delegation.

He conveyed the greetings and appreciation of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Republic, to his brother, His Excellency President Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, affirming the strong determination to advance confidently towards broader horizons of cooperation that yield tangible results benefiting the two brotherly peoples, guided by the insightful vision laid out by the leaders of the two countries.

He highlighted that the sectors identified by both sides, including security, trade, investment, infrastructure, energy, mining, agriculture, livestock development, fisheries, vocational training, innovation, and scientific research, reflect the magnitude of their joint ambition.

He also underscored the importance of the role played by the Ivorian and Mauritanian communities in both countries.
