Mauritania Officially Joins Abuja Memorandum of Understanding

Mauritania has officially joined the Abuja Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control in West and Central Africa, becoming the 21st member of this important regional agreement, as of Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

This accession is the culmination of a three-month process of intensive consultations between the Mauritanian authorities, represented by the Mauritanian Maritime Affairs Agency, and the memorandum’s general secretariat, reflecting Mauritania’s commitment to strengthening maritime safety, security, and environmental standards in its territorial waters and ports.
