Migrant Boat Breaks Down Off Mauritanian Coasts

Nouadhibou, 26 October 2020 (AMI) – A security source informed the Mauritanian News Agency (AMI ) office in Nouadhibou, on Monday Evening, 26 October that a boat carrying 161 illegal immigtants of various nationalities, broke down, in the “Arkeiz” area off Mauritanian Coasts.

The source stated that the group was transffered by the Mauritanian Coast Guard to the city of Chami, where teams from the Mautitanian Red Crescent began to provide first aid to these migrants.

It added that two deaths have been recorded among the migrants, and their corps were transferred to the city of Chami.

According to the same source, the group would soon be expatriated to their original countries after the accomplishment of the national police’s investigation.
