Participatory Meetings on Artisanal, Semi-Industrial Mining Activity Issues Closed
The Mauritanian Company (Maaden), in colloboration with the German Cooperation, closed, Friday, 23 Ocober, in Nouakchott work sessions held to discuss the Artisanal and Semi-industrial minning activities issues.
The meetings gave the opportinity to many workshops referering to the mining activity in general,to players in gold mining activity C and operators of small mines.
During two days participants has received presentations about the activity and challenges facing its development:
-Supervision of mining activities
-Ways to make the activity official
-Laws of mining activity implementation
-Lack of techniques and human resources to better control the activity
-The non respect to security measures
-Foreign workers issues
-Marketing strategies
-Lack of sensibilisation about risks.
-Lack of coordination between differents establishments.
In his closing statement,the Minister of Oil, Energy, and Mines, Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh thanked all for their constructive attributions during the worshops that witnessed the presence of 200 participants from different entities within Mauritania.This reflect the interest level towards this activity.
He added that all suggestions will be taken into accounts:
«You followed during these meetings,presentations of experts and main players in the fields of artisanal and semi-industrial mining in Mauritania.Also organised work seesions uniting players and profossionals in the field.The latter marked by good and fruitful exchanges ».
Mme Sahla Mint Mohamed Salem Ould Mohamed Lemine,President of the Union (Echamila de Chami),reprsenting the Civil Society,thanked the government for creating the (Maaden) Mauritania Company ,giving the participants the opportinity to organise,solve their problems and promote activities in the mining fields.
She added that the artisanal and semi-industrial mining activities is giving birth to a place unifying all Mauritanian people components ,and contributing to fight against unemployment by creating new jobs.
