HE President of the Republic Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani received on Monday morning at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, a high-level government delegation from the Republic of Benin, headed by HE Abdoulaye Bio Tchane, Minister of State for Development and Coordination of Government Action, as special envoy of HE President of Benin, Patrice Tallon, and including HE Minister of State for Economy and Finance Romuald Wadagni.
The meeting discusses the fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to develop and strengthen them in order to serve common interests.

Following the meeting, the Special Envoy of the President of Benin, Minister of State for Development and Coordination of Government Action, made the following statement to the Mauritanian News Agency: “I came as part of a government delegation to Nouakchott carrying a message from H.E President Patrice Talon to H.E the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to express the strength of the excellent relations between our two countries and the friendship that binds the two Presidents, as well as our gratitude for the reception he gave us, during which we were able to discuss a number of issues of bilateral cooperation between Benin and Mauritania.
We spoke with His Excellency about the support given by the Republic of Benin to Mauritania’s candidate for the presidency of the African Development Bank, Dr. Sidi Ould Taha, and conveyed to His Excellency our impression of the importance of the proper management of this African banking body and its role in serving the development of the countries of the continent.
We believe that Dr. Sidi Ould El Tah meets the necessary qualification to effectively manage this Bank in the years to come.
We have expressed to the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania our decision to support this candidacy, and we will mobilize to convince our other partners to support it.”
The meeting was attended by the Minister in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nani Ould Chrouga, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Sid’Ahmed Ould Bouh.
