President of Republic Receives Credentials of US Ambassador

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, received the credentials of Her Excellency Mme. Cynthia Kiericht, in her capacity as the Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

After the meeting, The President of the Republic granted an audience to the American diplomat with the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

Soon after the meeting, the American diplomat made the following statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI):

“I am very happy to have been received by the President of the Republic to whom I presented my credentials, in my capacity as Ambassador of the United States of America to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

I thanked the President of the Republic for the audience he has just granted me, and I reiterated to him the commitment of the United States of America to work hand in hand with Mauritania to achieve our common interests, goals, and aspirations.

I bring to the people and government of Mauritania greetings and respect from the American people and their government for the role that Mauritania is playing in the Sahel.

Mauritania is an important partner for the United States of America, and we welcome and encourage all the country’s efforts to establish a more inclusive society and economy, which offers new opportunities for development and shared prosperity among Mauritanians.

Stability and security are a necessity for any development, and we look forward to continuing bilateral efforts to stem the sources of instability in the region and across the African continent.

Also, I would like to thank all Mauritanians for the hospitality that has been offered to me since my arrival in this country, and to renew my commitment to work for the strengthening and widening of the partnership between the United States of America and Mauritania”.
