Mauritania chairs the Session Devoted to the Ministerial Dialogue on the Participation of the African Union as a Permanent Member of the G 20

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh, chaired, within the framework of the ministerial meetings of the Technical Committee Specialized in Finance, Monetary, Planning and Integration of the African Union at its seventh session held in Tunis, the high-level session held on July 6 devoted to the ministerial dialogue on the participation of the African Union as a permanent member of the Group of Twenty and the briefing on the Working Group on the Reform of the Global Financial Architecture.
This session was marked by important presentations by HE Ambassador Albert Mushanga, Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals of the African Union Commission, and Dr. Hanan Morsy, Deputy Executive Secretary and Chief Economist of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), as well as interventions by Ministers of Finance and Economic Planning, Central Bank Governors, as well as representatives of some international bodies.
On the sidelines of these meetings, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development held several meetings on July 7 with some officials, including His Excellency Ambassador Albert Mushanga, Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals of the African Union Commission, and Professor Kevin Chika Urama, Representative of the President of the African Development Bank Group in these meetings.
These meetings dealt with various aspects of distinguished joint cooperation between our country and these African bodies and ways to strengthen them in order to keep pace with the development strategies and programs in our country.
Discussions also focused on preparing for the next phases related to the meetings of the Group of Twenty, of which the African Union became a permanent member for the first time under the chairmanship of Mauritania.
The two sides stressed the need for coordination between the parties concerned in order to ensure the successful participation of the African Union in the meetings of the Group of Twenty to be held in Brazil this month.
