National Professional Associations Support Government’s Policy To Promote Livestock

The launch of the first edition of the national livestock fair on Wednesday was marked by a quality presence of associations active in the field of support and development of national livestock.

In this context, Mr. El Hacen Ould Taleb, chairman of the grouping of pastoral associations in Mauritania indicated that the nature of the climate in Mauritania requires our herd to move permanently inside and outside our borders, which requires securing this movement to ensure the continuity of this wealth and the strengthening of its productivity.

He added that contemporary research and studies have confirmed that animal movement is the best way to manage natural resources, adding that this requires reaching agreements with neighboring countries and giving civil society a role in the monitoring, to avoid problems that may arise from time to time.

For his part, Mr. Zein El Abidine Ould Cheikh Ahmed, president of the National Union of Mauritanian Employers, indicated that the President of the Republic had drawn lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic by transforming it into an opportunity to support sustainable development through investment in our national wealth to ensure food security and mitigate the potential repercussions of the pandemic.

In turn, Mr. Wellad Ould Haimdoune, Chairman of the National Association of Breeders recalled the efforts made by his association to increase the output of the livestock sector, affirming his organization’s readiness to continue consultation and coordination with the supervisory department to provide the appropriate conditions for breeders and create added value through animal products.
