On Thursday 14 December, the General Delegate for National Solidarity and Combating Exclusion “T’aazur”, Mr. Hammoud Ould M’hamed, participated in the Third World Conference on Refugees, held in Geneva, Switzerland.
On this occasion, the General Delegate of T’aazur delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh, during the public session in order to present the national experience in the field of sheltering refugees.
This evening, the Delegate General will make a presentation at a workshop on social protection on the interventions of the General Delegation for Synergy for the benefit of refugees residing in Mauritania.
Mauritania’s experience in this field is considered successful, which prompted the High Commissioner and the sponsoring countries of this conference to share its approach in the field of integrating refugees, where their number exceeded 120,000 migrants, most of them women and children, and this number is constantly increasing due to the security situation in the Sahel region.
It should be noted that all resident refugees were counted through civil status and social registry and all benefited from security, safety, decent accommodation, basic services and a decent life. Poor families also benefited from financial support.
