Fifteenth unit of the National Gendarmerie Leaves Nouakchott for the city of Abria, Central African Republic

The Assistant Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, Major General Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Tayaa, bid farewell to the fifteenth unit of the National Gendarmerie heading to the city of “Abria” in the Central African Republic to work under the umbrella of the United Nations within the framework of the United Nations peacekeeping force in this brotherly African country.

This unit consists of the seventh of its kind, which will succeed its predecessor, the National Gendarmerie, which returned on Wednesday evening to the homeland. Of 180 personnel, including a number of officers, non-commissioned officers and gendarmes, distributed over an operational formation, a medical team, a technical team and a third for logistics, equipped with all the necessary supplies and having all the professional competencies and specialties required in this type of international mission.

Colonel Mohamed Ould Aydin El Outhmani, commander of the Third Office of the National Gendarmerie Chief, told the Mauritanian News Agency on the sidelines of the farewell ceremony for the unit, Mauritania’s pride in general and the National Gendarmerie in particular, and its pride in the gains obtained by the members of these units, as witnessed by UN experts and all partners, which clearly reflected their ability and keenness to continue to excel in this noble mission.

The United Nations had earlier sent written congratulations to the National Gendarmerie Staff Command, praising the participation of the National Gendarmerie units supervising all Mauritanians, and calling for strengthening their mission with new units from the same sector.
