Human Rights Commissioner Takes Part in High-Level Advocacy To Draw Attention to Tragic Events in Gaza
On 13 December, in Geneva, Mr. Cheikh Ahmedou Ould Ahmed Salem Ould Sidi, the M. Cheikh Ahmedou Ould Ahmed Salem, the Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action, and Relations with Civil Society, participated in a high-level advocacy event, organized by the State of Palestine to shed light on the tragic events taking place in the Gaza Strip.
In his intervention in this context, the Commissioner reaffirmed Mauritania’s unwavering support for the just Palestinian cause.
He explained that the Palestinian people are currently undergoing a full-fledged genocide in the Gaza Strip before the eyes of the world, causing massive destruction of homes, thousands of deaths, and tens of thousands of women, children, and elderly people displaced and injured.
Mr. Cheikh Ahmedou Ould Ahmed Salem Ould Sidi denounced the reluctance of the international community to intervene to ensure a ceasefire to secure the entry of humanitarian aid, stressing that everyone must intervene and press for an immediate ceasefire and lifting of the siege to initiate a peace process in which a sovereign Palestinian state is established in accordance with international resolutions.
It should be noted that foreign ministers of several countries and ambassadors of Arab and Islamic countries participated in the meeting.
