On the sidelines of the global forum on Conjunctive Management of Surface Water and Groundwater held in Geneva, the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Mr. Ismail Abdel Fattah, held discussions on Monday with Mr. François Bertone, the expert in the field of monitoring and follow-up groundwater at the World Bank.
The meeting discussed ways and possible mechanisms for optimal exploitation of the Mauritanian-Senegalese Sedimentary Basin to be able to manage and protect it within the framework of the joint declaration between Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, and Guinea signed in Bissau in 2021.
The meeting also was an opportunity to discuss the status of some projects funded by the World Bank in Mauritania and the mechanisms to accelerate their implementation.
