President of Republic Receives Members of National Order of Lawyers’ Council

On 16 October, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, received the members of the council of the National Order of Lawyers of Mauritania, under the presidency of Mr. Bouna Ould El Hacen.

Soon after the meeting, the President of the Bar Association made the following statement to the press:

“We were received by His Excellency the President of the Republic, and we carefully followed his directives which illustrate a deep awareness of the mission of the lawyer and the role of justice. The meeting allowed us to provide His Excellency with the observations we have.

We have come to the conclusion that the existing atmosphere is favorable for those who wish to contribute to the healthy construction of this country. We are all aware that this country has a history, that it can reconnect with its glories, play its role, and that it has the capacities and the ingredients to do so.

This is why we thank the President of the Republic, President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, for the time allocated to us and for the directives and commitments which reflected the sincere desire to build this country.”
