Freetown: Human Rights Commissioner Participates in Discussion Session on Draft Regional Roadmap To Eradicate Human Trafficking
On 26 April, in Freetown, Mr. Cheikh Ahmedou Ould Ahmed Salem Ould Sidi, the Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action, and Relations with Civil Society, participated in the work of the ministerial table organized within the framework of activities of the Regional Conference on the Eradication of Human Trafficking in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The session examined a draft roadmap for eliminating human trafficking in this region based on strengthening cooperation between Member States and the coordination and intensification of efforts to eradicate this phenomenon.
On this occasion, the Commissioner presented a document containing our country’s opinion on the draft roadmap, highlighting the aspects of cooperation between Mauritania and this regional organization in the fight against human trafficking. Our country is participating in this conference at the invitation of the Republic of Sierra Leone and the ECOWAS in recognition of the remarkable progress made by Mauritania in the fight against human trafficking and to benefit from our experience in this area.
