Deputy Human Rights Commissioner Visits Coordination of Non-State Actors’ Forum in Dar Naim

The Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action, and Relations with Civil Society, Mr. Rassoul Ould El Khal, visited, on Friday, the coordination of the forum of non-State actors in the Dar Naim moughataa (district), where an awareness-raising campaign is currently underway to deal with the spread of COVID-19, organized in collaboration with the said forum and with the participation of 31 civil society organizations.

In a speech on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights indicated that the purpose of the visit is to follow the progress of the ten-day awareness-raising campaign, which covers the nine districts of Nouakchott.

He praised the role played by civil society in all awareness-raising campaigns to prevent the spread of the pandemic, affirming the Commission’s readiness to support civil society efforts.

For his part, the president of the forum, Mr. Mohamed Ould Sidi, insisted on the role played by his forum in these awareness-raising campaigns.
In turn, the coordinator of the forum at Dar Naim level, Ms. El Yekhair Mint Bendiek, indicated that civil society has greatly contributed to limiting the dangers of COVID-19 in Mauritania.

She added that the coordination will spare no effort to significantly reduce the dangers of the pandemic and that it is ready to cooperate with the state in all areas.
