Minister of Culture returns to Nouakchott after participating in UNESCO meetings on cultural diversity

Nouakchott

The Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesperson, Mr. El Houssein Ould Medou, returned to the capital Nouakchott early Wednesday morning from Paris, France, after participating in the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, which began Tuesday at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Our country was elected a member of this prestigious committee in June last year (2025), during the meetings of the tenth session of the Conference of the Parties, an election that reflected international appreciation for Mauritania’s efforts to preserve its cultural identity and promote cultural diversity.
