Minister of Economic Affairs Participates in Meeting on Food Security in Africa

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors, Mr. Ousmane Mamoudou Kane, participated, via videoconference, in a meeting on food security in Africa under the circumstances of COVID-19 Pandemic.

This meeting takes place on the sidelines of the annual spring meeting of the World Bank group with the participation of a number of African ministers.

During his intervention, the minister stressed that the repercussions of the pandemic have been difficult and increased the threats of food security in Africa.

He added that the Mauritanian government made a plan to improve food security situation in the medium and long-term, which contributed to alleviating the repercussions of the pandemic. In the same context, the government also took financial, tax, and customs measures aiming to boosting the strategic food security stocks to prevent any potential shortages.
