Mauritania Participates in Arab League’s Economic, Social Council Meetings

On 31 August, Mr. Lemrabott Ould Bennahi, the Minister of Trade, Industry, Handicrafts, and Tourism, participated in the meetings of the 112th session of the Arab League’s Economic and Social Council in Cairo, Republic of Egypt.

During the opening session, Mauritania handed over the chairmanship of the 112th session to the Republic of Yemen after having chaired the 111th session of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States.

On this occasion, the Minister gave a speech in which he highlighted the magnitude of the challenges facing the Arab region, which require concerted efforts to address them with determination to win the bet for the development of our Arab region.

He stressed the utmost importance that Mauritania attaches to the fifth session of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, which our country will host on 7 November, Inchaa Allah.

Mr. Lemrabott Ould Bennahi also attended today the meeting of the Ministerial Committee in charge of the follow-up and preparation of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summits, where he reviewed all the measures taken by Mauritania in terms of preparation for the fifth session of this summit that our country will host on 7 November and which will be marked by the presentation of an initiative by His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, on the blue economy, as a means of solving the food and energy crises.

It is noteworthy that today’s meeting was preceded by other meetings at the committee and senior official level in preparation for this ministerial meeting, which resulted in a set of resolutions on strengthening and developing joint Arab action.
