The director general of sports at the Ministry of Employment, Youth, and Sports, Mr. Abdel Kader Ould Ahmed, president of the infrastructure committee within the organizing committee of the 22nd edition of the CAN U-20 ‘Mauritania 2021’ indicated that the three stadiums, hotels and other infrastructure that are to host the championship and participating delegations are ready, stressing that they meet the technical requirements of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
He added, in an interview with the Mauritanian news agency (AMI) that his department received from the Military Engineering three stadiums (the Olympic stadium, the Cheikha Ould Boydiya stadium and the Nouadhibou stadium). It is indeed the Military Engineering, which built the Nouadhibou stadium and made adjustments to the other stadiums which are now, he said, compliant with CAF technical criteria and ready to host this important African sporting event.
Mr. Abdel Kader Ould Ahmed pointed out that his committee and the other sub-committees have carried out the missions entrusted to them within the allotted time and in a satisfactory manner, whether in terms of infrastructure, transport, residence, health, or safety.
He insisted on the need to combine official and popular efforts to ensure the success of Mauritania in the organization of the sporting event, which will allow it to organize other larger and more important ones in the future and to confirm its presence on the continental and international sports scene with dignity.
He called on journalists and all patriots to make every effort to accompany this great sporting event that Mauritania will host for the first time in its history.
He stressed that this tournament is of particular importance for Mauritania, thanking AMI and through it all the national media for accompanying the event.
He called for bringing out the true face of Mauritania, as country of generosity and a hospitality.
