The defense ministers of the G-5 Sahel approved a new restructuring of the group. They also decided to reorganize its joint force to increase its combat and response capabilities and response to the situation requirements.
The final communique of the meeting of defense ministers and chiefs of staff of the G-5 Sahel Armed Forces held on 9-10 January, calls on the group’s partners and its international supporters to support efforts aimed at building up the joint force and improving its readiness to face the security challenges in the G-5 Sahel space.
Mauritania was represented at this meeting by Mr. Hanana Ould Sidi, the Minister of National Defence, Major General Moctar Bella Chaabane, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Diallo Saidou, the Commander of the Support Detachment in the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and Brigadier General Brahim Vall Ould Cheibani, the Director of the G-5 Sahel Defense College.
