Defense Minister Participates in AU Specialized Technical Committee Meeting

Minister of National Defense, Mr. Hanena Ould Sidi, participated, on Saturday via videoconference, in the work of the third extraordinary meeting of the African Union (AU) Specialized Technical Committee on Defense, Safety and Security.

M. Hanena Ould Sidi highlighted the need to be firm with the non-state armed groups, which have firearms licenses and are currently active in some African countries.

He added that peace support operations (OSPs) must take into account the protection of children in the whole process of planning, deployment, management of mandates, and liquidation of the African Union PSOs.

The meeting was attended by Rear Admiral Ahmed Said Ben Aouf.
