Ms. Fatimetou Mint Abdelmalick, the President of the Nouakchott region, and current chairperson of the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (CGLU Afrique) was received, on 29 August in Libreville, by the Gabonese Prime Minister, Ms. Rose Christiane Osoka, on the sidelines of the meeting preparing for the African Climate Week.
The meeting was an opportunity for Ms. Mint Abdelmalick to thank the head of the Gabonese government for the warm welcome and legendary hospitality she received, before reviewing the objectives, future programs, and the role of local elected officials in realizing people’s aspirations.
The President of the Nouakchott Region asked the government of Gabon to support the efforts of local African groups through support for a strong presence at the climate summit scheduled for next November in Sharm Sheikh, in Egypt, by providing the means allowing the organization to achieve the objectives of sustainable development.
For her part, the Prime Minister welcomed Ms. Mint Abdelmalick with whom she has had excellent relations for several years, praising the role of her organization and pledging to open a headquarters in Libreville for its representation in Central Africa, under the agreement concluded with the government of Gabon and the recommendations of the executive committee crowning its last meeting in Nouakchott.
