Egyptian Ambassador Pays Tribute to Mauritanian Ulemas’ Role in Egyptian Cultural, Intellectual Renaissance

On 22 July, in Nouakchott, HE Mr. Khaled Youssef, the Ambassador of Egypt to Mauritania, praised the role of Mauritanian Ulemas in the Egyptian cultural and intellectual renaissance through the implantation of the first complex of the Arabic language in Cairo. He noted that Egypt had been one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Mauritania in the 1960s.

The Ambassador was speaking during a reception organized by the Egypt Embassy, ​​ on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Revolution of 23 July 1952, in the presence of Mr. Mohamed Salem Merzoug, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad.
He highlighted the leading role of Mauritania in the fight against terrorism in the Sahel region, affirming the support of Egypt to Mauritania.

HE Mr. Youssef indicated that relations between the two brotherly countries had known a qualitative leap at all levels in recent years, reflecting thus the will of the leaders of the two countries, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic of Mauritania, and His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to promote these relations to an integrated and balanced partnership.

He added that preparations are underway for holding a second session of the joint committee chaired by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries.
