Spanish Foreign Affairs Minister: “I assured the President of the Republic of our unwavering support for development projects in Mauritania”

On 20 July, in Nouakchott, HE Mr. Jose Manuel Albares, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Spanish Cooperation, indicated that Mauritania and the Kingdom of Spain maintain excellent bilateral cooperation relations. He noted that the two countries are looking for more cooperation, especially in this particular international context.

In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency after a meeting with the President of the Republic, he added that he told His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani that Spain would continue to support development projects in Mauritania, especially those related to food security and fisheries, as well as those considered priorities for the Mauritanian government.

He said that Spain not only sees Mauritania as an important partner but as a stable and pivotal country in the West African region and the Sahel, highlighting the existence of long-standing friendly relations between the Mauritanian and Spanish people.
