Minister of Culture Offers Condolences on Death of Former Japanese Prime Minister

On 14 July, in Nouakchott, Mr. Khattar Ould Chibani, the Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Relations with Parliament, offered his condolences on the occasion of the death of Shinzo Abe, the former Japanese Prime Minister, who was assassinated on 8 July.

In the presence of HE Mr. Ehara Norio, the Ambassador of Japan to Mauritania, the Minister wrote the following in the condolences register:

?It is with great bitterness and sadness that we learned the news of the death of Shinzo Abe, the former Japanese Prime Minister, following the tragic attack which claimed his life last Friday. Following the telegram of His Excellency the President of the Republic who denounced ‘the assassination of a great leader who worked tirelessly and faithfully to lead his country toward security and stability.’ The deceased was a friend of Mauritania, and during his eight-year tenure,, relations between the two countries experienced remarkable development.

In this painful circumstance, on behalf of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, and on behalf of the Mauritanian government and people, I offer my most saddened and sincere condolences to His Excellency the Prime Minister of Japan, to the Japanese people, and to the family of the deceased for this great loss.
