Economic Affairs Minister Signes Memorandums of Exchange between Our country and Japane

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors, Mr.Ousman Mamoudou Kane and the Japanese Ambassador accredited to our country, His Excellency Mr. Norio, signed Thursday in Nouakchott, the exchange of notes on food aid, with a financial cover of up to 1,350,000,000 old MRU.

The memorandums are aiming at supporting food security and addressing the food emergency crisis and are part of Japan?s Food Support Cooperation Program 2022.

In a speech on the occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Economic Affairs stressed the importance of the deep and diverse cooperative relations between our country and Japan, noting the many important projects for development in the vital sectors resulting from this cooperation, which have a positive impact on the population.

He pointed out that this support came at a time characterized by the response to the global crisis Covid-19, as well as the unprecedented rise in food prices, adding that it will allow the construction of strategic stocks of the Food Security Commission and the regulation of prices in the local market in addition to financing some small development projects.

For his part, the Japanese Ambassador praised the level of effectiveness and transparency that have marked the work of the Food Security Commission in implementing food aid processes.
