On 10 July, the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Messoud, performed the Id al-Adha prayer at the Ibn Abass Mosque in Nouakchott.
Sheikh Ahmedou Ould Lemrabott Ould Habibou Rahman, the imam of the Great Mosque of Nouakchott, led the prayer in the presence of the President of the Constitutional Council, some members of the government, senior figures of the State, members of the Islamic diplomatic corps, and many inhabitants of the city of Nouakchott.
Mr. Khattar Ould Cheibani, the Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Relations with Parliament, Acting Minister of Islamic Affairs and Original Education, the imam of the Great Mosque, the wali of Western Nouakchott, the Deputy Chairperson of the Region of Nouakchott, and the administrative and municipal authorities of the Moughataa of Ksar welcomed the Prime Minister upon his arrival at the Ibn Abbas Mosque.
Sheikh Ahmedou Ould Lemrabott Ould Habibou Rahman began his sermon with the affirmation of the uniqueness of Allah, the unique, the Almighty, the Omnipotent, and the Omniscient based on the suras of the Holy Quran.
He then insisted on the importance of this blessed day of Id al-Adha, which Allah has designated as the day of the great pilgrimage when the faithful draw closer to the Creator through devotion, expressing their gratitude to Him and imploring His forgiveness.
The imam also dwelt on the importance of sacrifice, stressing it is a duty for any Muslim who can afford it.
Finally, he insisted on the brotherhood of Islam, which always unites all Muslims, and the importance of solidarity between them, particularly on this great occasion represented by the feast of Id al-Adha.
