Cabinet Meeting: President of Republic Insists on Strict Compliance With Transparency, Good Governance Rules
The Cabinet held its weekly meeting on 1 April 2022 at the Presidential Palace under the presidency of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, the President of the Republic.
This meeting was devoted to making contact between the members of the new government and general orientations.
The President began the meeting by congratulating the newcomers for the confidence placed in them. He stressed that they must constitute an added value on which one can count to breathe new life into the government action, which reinforces its performance and increases its efficiency.
He then congratulated those in whom confidence was renewed, encouraging them to redouble their efforts for an efficient and rapid implementation of the various components of the government program.
He finally urged everyone to:
– strictly comply with the rules of transparency and the principles of good governance in the management of financial resources, the management of public and administrative affairs, the restoration of work values, the respect for merit and the law, as well as the strengthening of competencies and skills of human resources through continuous training;
– develop the public service as a whole, build a local, professional, and efficient administration based on results, with periodic monitoring and evaluation of the levels of achievement of objectives to correct or redirect plans and programs;
– improve the relationship between the administration and the citizen to ensure equal access to services and bring them closer to the citizen.
He urged everyone to cooperate and coordinate government action, insisting on the need for:
• permanent consultation between the ministers on common files, and that it is not limited to meetings of the council or ministerial committees;
• establishing a culture of coordination and consultation within each ministerial department so that everyone is involved in decision-making and that their opinions are put to good use and take account of their impact at different levels, and the timing and form of their announcement to the other’s audience.
