On 22 March, Mr. Mohamed El Hacen Ould Boukhreiss, the Minister of Water and Sanitation, participated in a forum commemorating the 20th anniversary of the founding of the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW), alongside his counterparts of the founding countries, on the sidelines of the 9th edition of the World Water Forum.
Mauritania currently chairs the North African countries at this ministerial council, which includes dozens of African countries, which gives our country the position of vice-president of the council.
In a speech for the occasion, Mr. Ould Boukhreiss indicated that the North African sub-region has benefited from the results obtained over the past 20 years, particularly regarding the implementation of the Sharm el-Sheikh commitments and the African Water Vision for 2025.
He reiterated the commitment of the African Ministerial Council on Water in the main missions entrusted to it, which must contribute to accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals for water and sanitation in Africa to meet Africa’s aspirations for economic growth and social progress.
