Foreign Minister Informs Diplomatic Corps of COVID-19 Pandemic Alarming Situation in Mauritania

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, met, last night in Nouakchott, with members of the diplomatic corps residing in our country.

During the meeting, the minister briefed the diplomats on the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has reached a worrying level.
The minister reviewed the details of measures taken by the government to deal with the second wave of the pandemic.

The support that international partners can give to our country to deal with the pandemic was also discussed, as many participants expressed the willingness of their countries and organizations to support the country’s efforts to fight the disease.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Mohamed Lamine Moulay Ely, Acting Secretary General of the Ministry, Ambassador Mohamed El Hanchi Kettab, Ambassador Director of Bilateral Cooperation at the Ministry, Massar Sissoko, Ambassador Director General of Support and Transversal Services at Ministry, and El Alem Hamza, Ambassador Director of Protocol at the Ministry.
