Foreign Ministry Summons Malian Ambassador To Protest Repeated Crimes Against Defenseless Mauritanian Citizens on Malian Territory

On 8 March, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad summoned HE Mr. Mohamed Diabassi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Mali to our country, to strongly protest the recent criminal acts perpetrated by regular Malian forces against our defenseless and innocent citizens on the Malian territory.

To this end, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad issued the following press release:

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad summoned HE Mr. Mohamed Diabassi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Mali to our country, on 8 March. The purpose of the summons was to inform the Ambassador of our strong condemnation of the recent recurring criminal acts perpetrated by regular Malian armed forces against our innocent and defenseless citizens on Malian territory.

The previous act caused the sending of a high-level delegation from our country to the Republic of Mali to try to contain this hostile behavior toward our fellow citizens. Despite the commitments given in this regard, the level of response of the Malian officials – at central and regional levels – remains below expectations.

While recalling our country’s position based on fraternal and humanitarian considerations and taking into account the bonds of history and geography that reject the principle of starving the brotherly Malian people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians abroad affirms that the lives of our innocent citizens and the security of their property will remain above all considerations.
