Mauritania, Japan Sign Financial Grant agreement to develop Fishing Sector

The headquarters of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors hosted Tuesday the signing ceremony of a financial grant agreement, under which Japan provides aid to Mauritania directed to finance a project for the development of the facilities of the training and expertise center in fishing professions.

This agreement was signed on the Mauritanian side by the Minister of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sector, Mr. Ousman Mamoudou Kane, and the Japanese side by the Japanese Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Ahara Norio.

With a financial envelope of 600.000 MRU, this project aims to improve the technical capabilities of this center by reconstructing its facilities training and administrative facilities to perform its duties efficiently.

In a speech on the occasion, the Minister of the Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors, Mr. Ousmane Mamoudou Kane, expressed gratitude to the Japanese people and government for the distinguished cooperation between the two countries.

He added that the fishing sector enjoys a special place in the promises of the president of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.

As for the Japanese Ambassador, he declared that the fishing sector is one of the main areas of cooperation between the two countries.
