Mauritania Set To Receive COVID-19 Vaccine

The representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Mauritania, Dr. Abdou Salam Gueye, made a statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI) as Mauritania prepares to receive the anti-coronavirus vaccine to face the second wave of the pandemic.

During the interview, the WHO representative said that Mauritania started early thinking about the acquisition of vaccines.
He added: ‘four months ago, we met with the authorities to explain to them the situation related to the vaccines, of which few of them had reached phase 3 of trials at that time’.

«I must, however, point out that the vaccines have a cost, which necessitate logistics to be administered and Mauritania is working on that”, he affirmed.

Dr. M Abdou Salam Gueye calls on Mauritanians to protect themselves from the pandemic by abiding by preventive measures, avoiding gatherings as far as possible, wearing masks, and washing hands with soap.
