President of Republic Attends Gambian President’s Swearing-In Ceremony

On 19 January, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazwani, attended, in Banjul, the swearing-in ceremony of His Excellency Adama Barrow, the President of the Republic of The Gambia.

A warm welcome was extended to the President of the Republic upon his arrival at the Independence Stadium in the capital, Banjul, during which the Mauritanian national anthem was performed to celebrate his participation with the leaders of several West African States and representatives of regional and international organizations.

The Gambia Independent National Electoral Commission had declared the election of President Adama Barrow president of the country for a second term of five years, during the presidential elections, held on 4 December 2021.

Mr. Adama Barrow had won around 50 of the country’s 53 constituencies in the elections, in which one million Gambian voters were invited to vote. During this presidential election, six candidates had run for presidency.
