President of Republic Offers Condolences to French Counterpart

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani addressed the following message of condolences to his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, following the death of former President Valery Giscard d’Estaing.
«Mr. President,

We learned with sadness, on Wednesday 2 December 2020, the death of Mr. Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, former President of the French Republic.
Also, I would like, in my personal name and on behalf of the Mauritanian people, to address to you, and through to you to the French people, government and the deceased’s family, our sincere condolences and compassion.
I would like also to pay tribute to this great figure of the contemporary political history, who modernized France and introduced important social reforms while remaining strongly attached the construction of Europe.

History will remember the late as a great statesman.
Please accept, Mr. President, the expression of my highest considerations.
